The Day Today – “The Pound Has Been Stolen”

Chris Morris took a host of celebrities for a ride with this sketch about the dangers of CAKE, a new killer drug from Czechoslovakia.

Noel Edmonds, Bernard Manning, Bruno Brookes, Jimmy Greaves and MP David Amess are taken in by Chris Morris as he shows that some celebrities will put their names to any campaign for a piece of publicity.

Alan Partridge – Sports Review

The Day Today introduced Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge.  Each week he would look at a different sport.  This sketch sees Alan Partridge on location with a special horse racing sports bulletin.

The Day Today was such a brilliant comedy sketch show. The spoof news programme that was so realistic and so accurate.

It was the brainchild of comic genius Chris Morris; and this classic sketch proves what a genuis the man is.

All three parts in this spoof Mtv sketch are played by Morris himself – Fur Q the outrageous rap artist, the young Mtv “video jockey” and the middle-aged Rolling Stone magazine rock journalist, Derrin Zikks.

Furthermore, Uzi Lover by Fur Q is better than a majority of the rap music that is played on Mtv.

The Day Today was a television adaption of the successful Radio 4 comedy sketch show, Top Of The Hour. At the centre of the spoof new programme was the brilliant Chris Morris who went on to cause more controversy with his Brass Eye spoof-documentary series, especially the award winning episode about child pornography.

The Day Today also introduced us to Steve Coogan’s Alan Partridge character.
