As you can see from the DVD reviews on previous pages, there are a mountain of comedy videos available for Christmas, and obviously a carefully picked title can make the ideal Christmas present.

Comedy on TV has had its ups and downs this year, there have been some stand out new shows like Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show and Him & Her, but there have also been some rather awful stuff like The King is Dead.

The King is Dead was apparently the brainchild of Simon Bird who plays Will McKenzie in the BAFTA award winning series The Inbetweeners, which proves that one shows comedy genius is another shows waste of space.

Not only does Bird star as the presenter of The King is Dead, he was also responsible for writing it which will surely go down poorly on his future CV.

Fortunately the baby faced twenty six year old actor McKenzie was in superb form again in the third series of The Inbetweeners, along with his co-stars the not so cool but not too nerdy gang treated viewers to the next stage in their social development with the usual hilarious moments.

Punching way above their weight as usual the Inbetweeners manage to be noticed by the girls only when the girls care to notice them (a lesson for life there), and even then they are able to impress and then totally embarrass the females in one simple move.

Their involvement in the fashion show and their exploits on the catwalk in front of the entire school, including the teachers, is priceless. Will finds that he is actually enjoying his experience of stardom a little too much and is dragged off stage by his female companion.

Simon puts on the show of his life with nothing on but a collar and g string and the crowd appear to be loving it only to find once he has left the stage that his balls were hanging out of his pants for the entire routine.

The Inbetweeners Series 3 is among this Cristmas’ DVD releases and certainly one that I wouldn’t mind receiving. The DVD comes with extras including the almost obligatory (cheap) Behind the Scenes, Out-takes and Deleted scenes and Video Diaries from each of the cast.

Inbetweeners – Football Friend, E4
The Inbetweeners follows a group of sixth formers as they struggle with school and social life in teenage years caught between childhood and adulthood.
It’s best described as Adrian Mole for adults.
As with the complete series, this sketch contains strong language.

The series is littered with strong language, as is this laugh-out-loud clip of when one of the boys passes his driving test and they decide to celebrate by taking a trip to Alton towers to ride th behemoth Nemesis rollercoaster.
